- Overall, the game IS the game of golf as far as rules are concerned.
- BALF is played on a regulation golf course.
- All course ground rules apply with respect to boundaries, water, hazards, etc.
- The game of BALF shall consist of nine holes, or INNINGS.
- Extra INNINGs, or DOUBLE HEADERS, are at the discretion of the BALFer.
- When teeing off, and in the fairway, the ball should be tossed into the air and hit like a baseball.
- When close to the green, the ball may be bunted.
- When on the green, the ball must be PUTTED.
- Any time the ball hits the CLAT, a stroke is counted.
- Two misses at one position are allowed. If a third swing-and-a-miss occurs, a STRIKEOUT has occurred and is then counted as one stroke against the BALFer.
- Par is a SINGLE.
- A birdie is a DOUBLE.
- An eagle is a TRIPLE.
- A hole-in-one is a HOME RUN.
- A bogey is an ERROR.
- Hitting a ball out of play is termed a FOUL BALL.
- CLADDIES may carry for a maximum of four BALFers.
